Adding links, and sewing

I’m slowly working on the site, and figuring out what I want to add and where.  I’ve already started adding links to some of my favorite sites.  Many of them will be about the 18th and 19th centuries, and sewing/costuming.   I’ve always loved costumes, and especially clothing from those eras.  I recently learned how to sew (I’m still learning) and even made a few things before I had to take a bit of a break.  I’m hoping to get back to it soon.  I have some friends who also enjoy sewing and love those eras.  I’ve met a lot of interesting people with similar interests, so I look forward to learning more as well as meeting more folks!  Obviously I’m no expert, and I also won’t be doing a “how to” blog about sewing or anything like that.  As I said, this is just my little space on the web so I can share with my friends and family.

I’m not sure how soon I’ll be able to get back to sewing, but I look forward to it.  It’s a very soothing thing for me, even if I’m having trouble or not quite getting things right.  I just love turning on some music, or having the TV on (usually the History Channel) and working away on my project.  I’ve missed it so much!  Time to get back to it, I think.

For those of you who sew, what’s your favorite thing about it?  Is there anything you love to do when you’re working on a project, like listening to certain tunes or watching movies that get you in the mood?  Maybe even a celebratory “that’s all for today” drink of wine or tea when you’re done?

About Cynthia Griffith

I have way too many interests and hobbies, and continually cycle through them -- paying attention to some, while others wait for when I can get around to them again. My main interests are sewing and costuming (I enjoy historical clothing, such as 18th and 19th century, as well as fantasy costumes like elves and hopefully someday even dwarves), as well as getting back to art by drawing fan art of Thorin Oakenshield and Company. My husband Christopher and I spend a lot of time together, enjoying the outdoors and shared hobbies such as juggling. This blog and website is my way to share what I'm up to with friends and family.

  1. Well, I don’t sew, but I always like helping you, and it’s always cool to go away while you’re working and seeing progress in stages.

I look forward to seeing you back out in the living room, watching History Channel and sewing away!

  2. I appreciate all the help you’ve given me on some of those projects where I needed help, or even just listening to me work through ideas. Thanks so much! I look forward to that, too 😀
