New bustle gown and recent event

A photo of me in my new costume at a recent event. My friend Jen took this photo without me even realizing it. I love it! See below for links to more photos.

This will be a quick update, mainly to share links to photos and information!

I finished another costume — this time, a bustle gown. I have all the information and photos of the outfit on the costume page for it (see below).

I finished it in time for an event as well!

The costuming group I’m a part of rode a train to the Fort Worth Stockyards to attend a big festival there. We all dressed up and had a great time. I wrote a blog entry about the day here:

The DFWCG’s Frontier Forts Days and Train Ride.

Sorry I’m still a little slow to update. I have various projects in progress, have been sick off and on, and I also have some other things I need to take care of as well.

I’m just glad when I can mark another project off the To Do List!

About Cynthia Griffith

I have way too many interests and hobbies, and continually cycle through them -- paying attention to some, while others wait for when I can get around to them again. My main interests are sewing and costuming (I enjoy historical clothing, such as 18th and 19th century, as well as fantasy costumes like elves and hopefully someday even dwarves), as well as getting back to art by drawing fan art of Thorin Oakenshield and Company. My husband Christopher and I spend a lot of time together, enjoying the outdoors and shared hobbies such as juggling. This blog and website is my way to share what I'm up to with friends and family.

  1. I know this outfit gave you its issues, but…it ended up great! People loved it, and with good reason. I like that you always challenge yourself and modify patterns. And…I love that the trek to Ft. Worth and back was even more fun than I thought it would be!

    Beautiful! You are so talented!

  3. @Christopher: There are some issues with it, but I don’t mind challenging myself to try something I really want and having something at least wearable in the end. Sure, there are a few details that drive me nuts, but I’m just thrilled to have a different style bustle outfit to wear. The skirt is cute and fun… I’m still contemplating a matching bodice. Would that be too much plaid? LOL!

    @Ali: Thanks so much! πŸ˜€

    Beautiful outfit and I love this picture πŸ™‚

    You look wonderful! I love these sharp and stylish late bustle dresses and the colors you have chosen are great. Beautifully done!

  6. @Mary: Thanks! I adore the photo too… it’s one of my faves!

    @Merja: Thank you! I usually lean more towards frilly and poofy, but I have to admit I’m very glad to have something more straightforward like this. The skirt is a lot of fun. I think I’ll wear it again in December to an event if I’m able to attend. πŸ˜€
