Rough sketch for another section of drawing

I mentioned I was currently working on another drawing of Thorin (dA entry here, blog entry here) and there is a small section in the lower right hand corner I would like to have add another drawing (full-figured) of him walking.

I very roughly sketched that figure, trying to focus more on shape and shadow. I will have to reduce the size a little to get it to fit where I want it to blend in. I’m hopeful that I can scan and print the most important lines clearly enough to see through the final paper (thicker, Bristol) using my lightbox. Any final adjustments to lines and blocking in shadows will be done then.

Still working on the parts for my next drawing of Thorin — Thorin Cloak Blue Pencil1. I’m still not sure if I’ll add this part, but if I do it will need to be reduced in size to go in the lower right hand corner of the drawing. I needed to focus on mostly shadows and shapes, since I won’t be able to add as much detail. Mostly for mood, and final lines can be adjusted before I ink.

Next steps will be prepping both drawings for transfer, and hoping I can see enough detail to use my lightbox to transfer the lines I want to Bristol for inking.

I’ve still been very happy that I keep working on it. I haven’t been overly frustrated or annoyed with it, much less distracted. So that’s a good thing. Still, I’m not sure how long it will take me to fully finish it. I’m sure I won’t just ink it, but also use ink washes as well and those tend to take some time for me.

But yay for continuing work instead of finding other things to work on instead! 😉

About Cynthia Griffith

I have way too many interests and hobbies, and continually cycle through them -- paying attention to some, while others wait for when I can get around to them again. My main interests are sewing and costuming (I enjoy historical clothing, such as 18th and 19th century, as well as fantasy costumes like elves and hopefully someday even dwarves), as well as getting back to art by drawing fan art of Thorin Oakenshield and Company. My husband Christopher and I spend a lot of time together, enjoying the outdoors and shared hobbies such as juggling. This blog and website is my way to share what I'm up to with friends and family.
