Gray Bustle Skirt

Patterns used:
Four Gore UnderSkirt, Truly Victorian TV261-R (smooth version).

Fabrics used:
– Gray polyester suiting.
– Black Symphony Broadcloth (for flatlining).

Other materials used:
– Gray thread.
– Black serger thread.
– Strong, flat hook and bar.

A mix of machine and hand sewing.

This skirt is meant to be worn with the gray bodice on this costume page.

For the most part, this went together smoothly. I had a few issues due to the gray fabric having a mind of its own. I even flatlined the pieces to another fabric, but it still didn’t seem to want to work smoothly. Since I may only wear this skirt a few times, I’m not going to worry about it unless it stands out in photos and drives me nuts.

It doesn’t really want to press very well either, so I decided to keep it very simple and leave off any pleated ruffles along the hem. That, and I’m almost out of fabric anyway.

I only have the photos on the dress form for now — I’ll be adding more photos of the outfit together later.
