Another Sanctuary Fundraiser Design!

The fundraiser for my previous design for Sycamore Tree Ranch ended with 55 shirts sold! That means the sanctuary raised about $500 to go towards a new barn for their animals. It was a ton of work to promote the fundraiser – by both myself and the sanctuary (I’m so thankful they had the time to join in promoting with all the hard work they do every day) – as well as family and friends both purchasing shirts and sharing the link! (And if you follow the link above, you can sign up to be notified the next time the shirt is available! There are already folks interested in another round!)

Now it’s time for the next design! This time, it’s for Daisy’s Farm Friends Sanctuary in Maryland!

Daisy’sFFS is named for one of their sweet rescues, Daisy, an 800 lb farm pig who also has a daughter named DJ (Daisy Jr.). There are other pigs and animals as well! They are a smaller sanctuary, and like every sanctuary they need to raise funds to help cover everything from vet bills to feed! That’s what this fundraiser was set up for… feed!

When volunteer Janine approached me, asking if I would do a design for Daisy’sFFS she told me about the sanctuary and showed me photos. I instantly fell in love with a photo of Ms. Daisy sitting in her mud puddle all smiles, and it (plus her flowery name) made me think of Ferdinand the Bull sitting and smelling all the flowers. I instantly knew what I wanted to draw.

This was also the first time I worked with Adobe Illustrator. I did my usual hand drawn work on the actual portrait of Daisy, but brought it into Illustrator where I colored it and created the text and “garden gate scrollwork” design for the frame. It was great practice to learn about paths and Illustrator.

This shirt will only be available for another 12 days, and you can get it here!

About Cynthia Griffith

I have way too many interests and hobbies, and continually cycle through them -- paying attention to some, while others wait for when I can get around to them again. My main interests are sewing and costuming (I enjoy historical clothing, such as 18th and 19th century, as well as fantasy costumes like elves and hopefully someday even dwarves), as well as getting back to art by drawing fan art of Thorin Oakenshield and Company. My husband Christopher and I spend a lot of time together, enjoying the outdoors and shared hobbies such as juggling. This blog and website is my way to share what I'm up to with friends and family.
